Google expands Search AI Mode access to free users on waitlist
Those lucky enough to get on the waitlist were likely given access to Google’s new AI mode engine in this trial expansion. I strongly suspect that AI mode could eventually be the default google.com layout of the future. We’ll see. There’s a ton of viewpoints out there regarding AI mode, and I recommend following Glen Gabe, who has been testing this early-version engine: https://www.gsqi.com/marketing-blog/ai-mode-tracking-google-search-console/?ref=hellopartner.com

Google March 2025 core update rollout is now complete
Google’s March 2025 core update, which began on March 13 and concluded on March 27, was a standard algorithm update aimed at improving search relevance. While Google had mentioned that 2025 would be a year of more frequent updates, this was the first since December 2024. The rollout triggered noticeable ranking shifts for some sites, though its impact appeared less severe than previous updates. Sites affected saw changes, both positive and negative. Google Is Looking Out for #1. It’s Time You Do, Too
Ahrefs discusses how Google is prioritising its services in search results, often at the expense of organic listings. For instance, Google’s AI Overviews have been found to reduce click-through rates by up to 40%, and they are throwing in ads within these Overviews to complicate matters for organic CTR further. Additionally, Google directs users to its platforms, such as Google Flights, over competitors. In response, this article takes the view that businesses focus on building their brand beyond search engines by creating demand through other channels and producing content that directly engages and converts their target audience.
